Monday: Turning your vision into reality
In Luton, getting to school on a Monday morning is usually stress-free, whether you walk, drive or use the extensive public transport network.
It’s a new week and a new day. Your first job? Greeting some of the kids and their parents as they arrive in the playground, or perhaps just taking a stroll around the school to make sure everything’s as it should be.
Then it’s time to get started - log onto your PC, make some quick calls, check your e-mails, plan the day.
9:00am and it’s your turn to host assembly. Today the theme is the annual Luton International Carnival, a thirty-year tradition and a celebration of everything that’s bright, colourful and special about the town.
Later there’s a meeting to discuss the consultation on next year’s budgets and funding for schools. With flat cash settlements from the Government and schools having to fund pay awards, increments and inflation out of efficiency savings, it’s unlikely to be good news. But you’ll need to consider the consultation document carefully and make sure you respond, so that your views can be taken into account at the next Schools Forum.
